    • Within the scope of the joint research project NOVOEXP funded by BMBF, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, we are looking for a scientific assistant for the parallelization of algorithms. This is a fixed-term position until the end of 2010. The job involves the investigation of existing computer programs and algorithms for possibilities of parallelization and their parallel reprogramming on the computer cluster of the university of Marburg as well as the parallel implementation of new algorithms. Mandatory for application are a very good diploma in computer science or a comparable academic degree, very good proficiency in theory and practice of parallelizing algorithms and software as well as interest in interdisciplinary research. Further necessary are very good skills in software development in C/C++ and Fortran. Advantageous are a good knowledge in nonlinear optimization or optimal control.



    • Within the scope of a research project funded by the LOEWE Center for Synthetic Microbiology we are looking for a doctoral student for the mathematical modeling of (micro)biological processes. The job involves the development, implementation and optimization of mathematical models of (micro)biological processes in cooperation with staff from research groups in the faculties of biology and chemistry of the university of Marburg. Mandatory for application are a very good diploma in mathematics or a comparable academic degree, very good knowledge in mathematical modeling and optimization as well as interest in (micro)biological questions. Further necessary are the ability of working in interdisciplinary teams and very good communication skills in German and English. Advantageous are a good knowledge of parameter estimation and optimal experimental design.
